Norton water tower - used to be surrounded by fields - miles from any houses

I was born in Preston Brook in the fifties and I can remember looking across the fields towards the old water tower and yes it was nothing but fields and the odd cottage and farm.... No Motorway and No housing estates.... But people have to live somewhere and it was very selfish of us to keep it all to ourselves....

Norton Water Tower is a gravity feed booster on the water supply statement from Lake vyrnwy to Liverpool water supply. From here the underground pipe work goes through a tunnel under the River Mersey
