27th May 2009 Stockton Heath to Runcorn Our latest walk from Stockton Heath to Runcorn has been published. Another enjoyable walk which completes our jaunt along the Bridgewater Canal.
Any suggestions for the next canal? The Macclesfield, Huddersfield, Lancaster, Rochdale? There are lots to go at. ;)

Definetly the Huddersfield.
It is a superb walk and cruise.
but start in manchester and take in the Ashton canal too.
1st day from Piccadilly basin to Ashton is a good urban walk.
2nd day- Ashton to Grenfield/ uppermill takes you up the valley and a walk through scout tunnel.
3rd day over the he top to Marsden whilst the canal burrows below, best walked up boat lane then along Stanedge edge before dropping down to Marsden
the last day is the drop into huddersfield through Slaithwaite. lovely,
just done expect to see many boats.
continue on round via the Huddersfield broad/ calder and hebble and rochdale to make a great circular. you will enjoy it.
