Late 1950s.Went on at this point down flight of ,I think ,9 locks into Ship Canal then into Weaver Navigation. Used to be a short cut that we used once ,but it was almost impassable. Boat 'Sundowner', converted RNLI sailing Lifeboat. Great pictures; brought back many memories including passing through tunnel in another boat. |

There where a lot more than 9 locks, there was the old run which would have connected to the River Mersey ( prior to MSC) the new run which ran down to Runcorn docks. I believe that the gates on the new run where sold and are on the canal kennet and Avon when the locks where filled in.
